Estill Voice Training Level 1 & 2 Course
Estill Voice Training – Level 1 & 2
Estill Voice Training (EVT) is a research-based voice model that provides clear, practical tools for understanding, developing, and training the voice in an effective way. The model was developed by singer, educator, and voice researcher Jo Estill.
EVT is based on scientific research on how the voice works, combined with decades of practical experience in training voice professionals. The model is widely used across musical styles, in theatre, spoken voice work, and in voice rehabilitation.
The course is suitable for anyone interested in voice—from beginners to professionals.
Level 1: Figures for Voice Control
In Level 1, participants explore the anatomical structures involved in voice production, how they function, and the acoustic properties of the voice.
The course introduces 13 distinct “Figures,” which provide a systematic and effective way to observe, understand, and train the voice.
The goal is to develop the ability to identify and control different aspects of voice production, and to build conscious control over vocal function.
Level 2: Six Voice Qualities
In Level 2, we combine learnt 13 structures into six researched voice qualities: Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Belting and Opera. However, this is only the beginning, as countless variations can be created for all kinds of vocal tasks and needs, be it artistic or practical.
The Level 1 & 2 course covers:
